Mission and Vision

Midwest Community Development Inc. (MCDI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2006 as a vehicle to empower Somali women and girls, many of whom are socially isolated, and lacking the necessary resources to connect, integrate, and seize opportunities to develop and/or refine skills as they settle in the Twin Cities.

MCDI’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for Somali women and children living in Minnesota. Organizational goals include:

  1. Serving as a bridge between Somali women & children and agencies and institutions to ensure that the needs of Somali women & children are met.
  2. Where service gaps exist, provide direct services to Somali women & children.
